Thanks to Emyrizka’s lovely post and pictures here I will add Plaosan Lor to the list of places in Java I’d like to visit one day.

As the latter text illustrates, Plaosan Lor represents the truly localised nature of Central Javanese art, which is quite unique in Southeast Asia, while the complex itself is from the later era of temple constructions under the Kings of the Sailendra dynasty (with the better known Borobodur from the earlier era).
